Used for edema associated with heart failure, hypertension, hyperaldosteronism, and other conditions involving fluid retention.
Contraindicated in anuria, significant renal impairment, hyperkalemia, Addison's disease, and hypersensitivity.
Hyperkalemia, gynecomastia, menstrual irregularities, dizziness, and gastrointestinal upset may occur.
Monitor potassium and renal function regularly. Avoid excessive potassium supplementation.
Potassium-sparing diuretic and aldosterone antagonist that promotes sodium and water excretion while conserving potassium.
